Software engineering represents the human intelligence behind all computerized functions and capabilities. Every activity carried out by a computer, whether to perform surgery or play a video game, is dictated by software written in a language a computer can read and understand.

Our society's reliance on computers has created a demand for software engineering professionals who can help design, develop and implement solutions for businesses, medicine, engineering, science, music, sports and consumers in the technology-driven 21st century.

What It Means to You

The Software Engineering Technology program in the School of Information Technology at the ITT Technical Institutes teaches students components of common technologies and skills that are used in software engineering. Graduates of this program may pursue career opportunities in a variety of entry-level positions, including software developer, software programmer, application developer, Web application developer, software engineer, software applications analyst, Web applications analyst, Web applications specialist and software applications specialist.
