Information Technology (IT) workers can benefit most types of organizations. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, "In the modern workplace, it is imperative that Information Technology (IT) works both effectively and reliably."1 IT is an academic discipline that continues to evolve as computers and communication technology change.
One area of Information Technology is Network Systems Administration, which involves systems such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets and other data communications systems. People who understand networking can connect users in different locations and help maintain the flow of information that companies use to operate. This could involve maintaining, monitoring, configuring and supporting systems that use various network software and hardware to interconnect systems and platforms into a common data-sharing infrastructure.
The Network Systems Administration program in the School of Information Technology at ITT Technical Institute can help students develop knowledge and skills that they can use to perform tasks associated with maintaining different computer network systems. Topics in the curriculum, explored through classroom theory and practical applications in a laboratory environment, include network operating systems and network systems design and implementation. If you have strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, the study of network systems administration may fit your skills and interests.
This program can help graduates pursue careers in a variety of entry-level positions in various fields involving network systems administration, such as system/network administrator, broadband technician, cable installation technician, computer consultant and computer support specialist.
