Information technology (IT) workers can be found in many types of organizations. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, "In the modern workplace, it is imperative that Information Technology (IT) works both effectively and reliably."1
One area of information technology is software development. Computer software helps many businesses be productive. Computer programmers design and write code to customize existing software applications and custom products, among other things.
As a software programmer, you can be part of a team that provides customized software solutions for businesses and consumers. These solutions can help streamline the systems operations of many businesses. If you enjoy solving puzzles, are comfortable with logical thinking and solution development, and enjoy working in a team setting, software applications and programming is an IT area you might like to pursue.
The Information Technology - Software Applications and Programming program in the School of Information Technology at ITT Technical Institute teaches students how to perform tasks associated with developing and modifying software applications. Additional curriculum topics, investigated through classroom theory and laboratory applications, include programming languages and algorithms, database development and applications and other related technical subjects. This program can help graduates prepare for careers in a variety of entry-level positions in various fields involving software applications and programming, such as database programmer, junior programmer, software support technician and software tester.
